Dear Athens staff, students, parents, and members of our community,
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to those individuals who attended the Special School Board Meeting on March 4. Your presence, engagement, and thoughtful participation made the discussion meaningful and productive.
The purpose of the special meeting was to listen, learn, and work together to identify solutions to concerns regarding student behavior. We reviewed Policy #5500, the Student Code of Classroom Conduct, and through active collaboration, attendees worked together to create a guiding document designed to promote respectful and positive classroom environments across all of our schools. The thoughtful ideas, questions, and insights shared will help ensure our policies reflect our practices, and support our shared goals.
I want to recognize the schoolwide systems, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), that are implemented across all of our schools to support all learners and foster consistent, student-centered environments. I am also deeply grateful to our staff for their dedication to teaching and reinforcing appropriate behaviors and for the exceptional work they do each day to support our students.

The Athens Middle School Speech Team recently wrapped up their season in a Level II competition hosted by Athens MS. Teams present were Stratford Middle School, Prentice Middle School, and Marathon Venture Academy. The group has 37 students in 14 entries varying from Reader's Theater, Play Acting, Solo Acting, Prose and NonOriginal Speech. All received an Excellence Rating at the final competition.

The Athens Middle School Student Council sponsored a Winter Dance for students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade from AMS, St. Anthony's and Trinity Lutheran. It is a great time when all students in the middle school grades can get together and have fun. Thank you to Mr. Triebold for spinning the tunes, and thank you to the Booster Club for donating and serving snacks.
