The Athens Middle School celebrated their Spirit Week to coincide with AHS's Homecoming Week. Halls were decorated, games were played, and costumes were worn. The week culminated with a Spirit Rally in which there were class dances, loudest cheers, and competitive relays. The 7th grade class won the week of competitions and will have an ice cream party. The Middle School Student Council sponsored the week with funds from the profits of their school store.

The AHS National Honor Society (NHS) recently inducted 11 sophomore students into their group of 13 current juniors and seniors. Ms. Gauerke-Peter administered the oath. The society focuses on four tenets: leadership, scholarship, character, and community service. Three projects are planned for this fall to show their volunteerism for the community.
Homecoming Week kicks off Monday, September 28, and we’re ready to fill our schools with Bluejay pride!

Athens Referendum 2026
On Tuesday, November 3, residents of the School District of Athens will vote on a four-year, non-recurring operational referendum to exceed the state revenue limit by $600,000 per year.
If approved, it would replace expiring referendum funding and maintain educational programs and services.
Over the next two months, we will share information about the Operational Referendum request so you can make an informed decision before you vote.
