Did you know May is Mental Health Awareness Month? This was first established in 1949, and an emphasis was placed on children's mental health starting in 2006, with May 7th being recognized as National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day. Athens will be featuring information about Mental Health every Wednesday. If you are noticing that your child may not be 'themself' lately or a change in habits, here are some ways that you can support your child. Today the 3rd grade students entered a Perimeter Construction Zone! 🚧🦺 They were a hard working crew while calculating the perimeter of rectangular “buildings.” Way to use great teamwork in the math work zone 3rd graders! 🤩

On May 27th, the Edgar School District mental health team will host a presentation on the impact of social media on kids mental health. Please see the attached flyer for more details on how you can be part of this online event.

Bluejay Buddies in action helping out in the cafeteria!!

Hello Athens Band Supporters! The band program is pleased to announce it's fundraiser for Spring 2021: Stainless Steel, Hot or Cold Drinkware! Choose from a plethora of designs, including two exclusive prints to show your Fighting Bluejay Pride, one of which was designed by a band student! Mr. Puffer visited the fifth grade recently to introduce them to various instruments they could play in band next year at the middle school.

In Mrs. Bingham’s Young Adult Medicine class they participated in "Stop The Bleed" training. They learned to apply emergency techniques and pack wounds. THANK YOU to Steve Brewster for coming in to provide the training.

A huge THANK YOU to Aaron and Michelle at The Bar and Hall for allowing the Lifetime Fitness class to come down and bowl. The students had a great time and high scores were 251, 193, 151 on 9 pin bowl. -Mrs. Bingham

As a follow up to the urinary system, Advanced Biology students created filters to see who could do the best job "clearing up" the water sample.

Students demonstrate how our new models help to show and understand disabilities as well as careers that relate to them.

Please join the Athens School District Board of Education on Wednesday, May 5 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for a public forum to meet the two finalists for our District Administrator position. Each candidate will introduce themself, provide their educational background and work experience. Thank you to Bob Kulp for taking time to talk with our 4th grade students!!!! The students missed out on their field trip to the capitol but they at least got to learn about his experience working in our government and his time at our capitol building. They learned a lot during our virtual meeting!
