Dear Athens Middle/High School Families,

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We are excited for the new year to begin.   Here are a few things that we want you to know:

  • Important Dates for Upcoming Events

    • August 13, Student Athletes and Parents Night, 7:30pm (for all sports)

    • August 20, Freshmen SOAR (See Details on BACK) 

    • August 20-21 6th Grade Jump Start (See Details on BACK) 

    • August 29, MS/HS Registration/Picture Day 10am-6pm 

    • September 3, First Day of School

    • October 12, Homecoming Dance (HS students only)

  • New this year

    • Staff members:

      • Mr. Jeff Mastin, Superintendent

      • Mr. Samuel Puffer, Band Teacher

      • Ms. Jessica Stuttgen, Ag/Biology Teacher, FFA Advisor

    • MASH - Mandatory After-school Study Hall

      • This program is designed to help our struggling students

      • Students with failing grades at the end of the school week will be scheduled to attend a Mandatory After-school Study Hall (parents will be notified by Friday afternoon) 

      • This will be held during our HOMEWORK HELP time, T, W orTh

      • Once all grades are “Passing”- then students will be dismissed from MASH

  • Still in place

    • Homework Help

      • Offered Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 3:20-4:30 

      • For all students

    • BLUEJAY FLEX time

      • Similar to last year, new name

      • Students and staff will use new software to schedule their FLEX time

    • Closed Campus

      • We are a closed campus.  This means:

        • Students MAY NOT leave for lunch or personal reasons unless approved by the principal or designee

        • Students MAY NOT sign themselves out without parent notification

        • Students MAY leave for PEER TUTOR, FACULTY ASSISTANT, or YA Work programs

    • Co-Curricular Code

      • Please review the Code on our District website. (All 6th graders, new students, and Freshmen are required to sign the agreement)
