School Closure for Covid 19

Sunday, October 4, 2020

Attention Athens Parents/Guardians of Students Grades PreK-12,

During this past week and weekend, Athens students and staff experienced a high number of combined positive COVID-19 cases and close-contact exposures. Due to the increased numbers of students, families, and staff affected, Athens Middle/High and Athens Elementary schools are closed effective immediately.

Students and parents will be contacted on Monday, October 5, with details regarding materials pick up and remote learning schedules. Remote learning for all students will begin on Thursday, October 8.  Attendance will be taken.

Both buildings will reopen for in-person learning at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, October 19.  This closure will allow time for currently identified and contacted students and staff to honor their quarantine period and get well.

Parent conferences scheduled for October 8th and 13th will be held virtually or by phone, there will not be any in-person conferences. Please remember to schedule or modify your conferences through the PTC Fast link previously provided. There will be no school on Friday, October 9, as currently scheduled.

Please keep your PreK-12 students home over these next two weeks. If your student exhibits any of the signs or symptoms related to the COVID-19 virus, contact Marathon County Health Department services to seek further guidance.

Thank you everyone for your assistance in slowing the spread of this virus. We look forward to seeing students remotely on October 8!

Stay safe,
